Content Policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026
FlockScanner publishes two different kinds of content, and each is governed differently: (1) camera location data drawn from OpenStreetMap, and (2) original editorial content (Articles and News) written or curated by FlockScanner. This page covers both.
Camera Location Data
Camera markers and directory listings on this Site are generated entirely from OpenStreetMap (OSM), a separate, independent open-data project with its own community-run editing and dispute-resolution process.
FlockScanner has no independent editorial control over the underlying OSM dataset — it re-publishes what OSM contributors have tagged, refreshed on an automated nightly sync. See our Methodology page for how that pipeline works.
FlockScanner does not operate a submission or moderation queue for camera data. There are no user accounts on this Site and no form here to add, flag, or edit a camera location directly.
If you believe a camera location is incorrect, outdated, sited to the wrong spot, or shouldn't be mapped at all, the correction path is through OpenStreetMap's own tools, not through FlockScanner. Use our Report a camera page, which links out to OpenStreetMap's editor, to make or request that change directly in the source dataset. Once OSM's community processes the edit, it will appear on FlockScanner after the next nightly sync — FlockScanner cannot make, expedite, or override that change on its own.
Editorial Content: Articles
FlockScanner publishes original explainer and analysis articles about ALPR technology, policy, and related topics. Every factual claim in an Article must cite a source. Articles are written or edited by FlockScanner, not submitted by the public.
Editorial Content: News
FlockScanner's news section curates reporting about ALPR-related developments. Draft news items go through human moderation before they are published — FlockScanner does not publish unverified rumors as News.
Corrections
FlockScanner is operated anonymously and does not publish a contact address, contact form, or other communication channel to report editorial errors. Sourcing for every factual claim in an Article is listed at the bottom of that article; if the cited source no longer supports the claim, the article is subject to revision on our own periodic review of the content.
