Report a Flock camera location

FlockScanner doesn't run its own submission system. Every camera on this site comes straight from OpenStreetMap, tagged man_made=surveillance + surveillance:type=ALPR. To add a missing camera or fix an incorrect one, edit OpenStreetMap directly — the change shows up here after our next sync.

This is a deliberate design choice, not a missing feature: rather than run a parallel, FlockScanner-only database of reported cameras, every correction goes straight into the same open dataset that every other OSM-based ALPR project (including deflock.org itself) reads from. That keeps one canonical source of truth instead of several forks quietly drifting apart, and it means your edit benefits the whole ecosystem, not just this site. Option 1 — edit OpenStreetMap

Open the OSM iD editor, find the camera's real-world location, and add a point (or edit an existing one) with these tags:

  • man_made = surveillance (required)
  • surveillance:type = ALPR (required)
  • manufacturer — optional, e.g. Flock Safety, Rekor, Motorola/Vigilant, Genetec
  • camera:direction — optional, degrees clockwise from north, if the camera faces a specific direction

OSM's public editor doesn't support pre-filling tags via URL parameters, so add them manually in the tag editor after placing the point.

Option 2 — use a mobile app

Changes on OpenStreetMap typically appear on FlockScanner after our next scheduled sync — see methodology for cadence details. A camera doesn't need to belong to a specific vendor to qualify — any fixed or mobile automated license plate reader is in scope, regardless of manufacturer, as long as it's tagged with the two required OSM tags above.
