Common questions

Who opposes Flock cameras?

Opposition is unusually cross-ideological. FlockScanner tracks 59 stories involving civil liberties organisations including the ACLU and EFF, public-interest law firms such as the Institute for Justice and the Kansas Justice Institute, state legislators from both parties, and — most often — ordinary residents at council meetings. Objections range from privacy and Fourth Amendment concerns to cost, federal data access, and documented misuse.

How do people organise against Flock cameras?

The reported pattern is consistent: find out whether your city has a contract and when it renews (council agendas, public-records requests), get the ALPR policy and audit logs, raise it during public comment before the renewal vote, and build a coalition. Contract renewal votes are the practical decision point, because cancelling mid-term is harder than simply not renewing.
