143,962 Flock Safety and other ALPR (automated license plate reader) camera locations are documented across 51 US states, plotted on a public map and listed by state and city below. The data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors who record cameras they have observed from public streets, and is refreshed nightly.
Flock Safety does not publish where its cameras are installed, and no federal or state agency maintains a comprehensive public registry. Everything here is therefore a floor rather than a total — a real, checkable count of what volunteers have found so far.

Flock camera locations by state
Ranked by documented camera count. The five largest hold about 46% of everything mapped so far. Two forces drive that concentration and it's worth separating them: some states genuinely have far more ALPR hardware deployed, and some states simply have more active OpenStreetMap volunteers walking their neighbourhoods. A state near the bottom of this table is under-mapped at least as often as it is under-surveilled.

How these camera locations are sourced
Every location originates in OpenStreetMap, tagged with
man_made=surveillance and
surveillance:type=ALPR. A volunteer sees a camera from a public
street, records its position, and where they can identify it, the manufacturer and the compass
direction it faces. 1,922 of the 143,962 cameras currently
carry a recorded facing direction.
FlockScanner reads that open dataset nightly and republishes it as a map and a crawlable directory. It adds nothing to OpenStreetMap and holds no private data — see methodology for the full pipeline, and report a camera if you find one missing.
What this list cannot tell you
- It is not complete. It counts mapped cameras, not installed ones. Nobody knows the true national total, including, plausibly, Flock Safety's own customers.
- It is not verified in the field. A camera may have been removed since it was tagged, or tagged slightly off-position.
- Vendor labels are incomplete. Most cameras show as unknown vendor because no one has recorded that detail, not because the hardware is unidentifiable.
- It says nothing about who can search the data. That is a separate question — see what a Flock camera is and the Fourth Amendment analysis.

Are Flock camera locations public information?
The locations FlockScanner publishes are public because volunteers observed the cameras from public streets and recorded them in OpenStreetMap, an openly licensed database. Flock Safety does not publish its own installation list, though individual police departments sometimes disclose camera counts or locations through public-records requests, city council agendas, or transparency portals. FlockScanner does not have access to any non-public Flock data, camera feeds, or plate-read records.
How often are Flock camera locations updated?
FlockScanner re-syncs from OpenStreetMap nightly, so newly tagged cameras appear within about a day of a volunteer adding them, and cameras that have been removed from OSM drop off on the same cadence. The dataset behind this page was last refreshed on October 20, 2026. FlockScanner does not independently field-verify locations.
